A very happy new year to everybody, hope you celebrated in style if you weren’t with us at any point over the festive season.
Both of us were extremely busy over the festive period, starting off with a belting night at the Scarfell hotel in the Lake District having an all-night jam with amazing musicians from Yorkshire, Manchester and Canada – check out Root and Branch if you ever see them gathering together near you.
Sam performed in a sell-out show in Northumberland https://soundcloud.com/the-brothers-gillespie. Becka was down in Kent messing around with old band the Chimney Boys, who proudly name themselves as Kent’s finest (and only) satanic maritime cabaret band.
New Year’s was spent at Rose Street’s finest pub the Black Cat where we teamed up with the brilliant bouzouki player Stuart Graham and tested our new bright red busking amps to great appraise throughout the night. Staff said never had music been the complete focus of attention for the whole night in that bar before (hopefully we had the bar’s attention for the right reasons?).
This year’s focus is really on travelling around the country and promoting our new album which is ALMOST finished. We had a couple of tough recording days just before Christmas, but with pleasing results. Many thanks goes to Fergus Halliday for adding bodhran to one of our tracks, watch this space……
So, back to the trying weekly grind of brilliant Edinburgh sessions. Same as before guys if you want to find us –
